and churches in Southern California are really gearing up their multimedia
departments. It is common that churches these days have a dedicated
staff member to manage their multimedia ministry. Judson Baptist Church
purchased and self installed a Radio Shack level production department.
When we visited Judson the first time they had a conglomeration of
equipment that was partially donated by members and some handed down
by a local cable station. They were struggling to do a multicam shoot
of their Sunday services.
Their original request was that we advise them how to make the 3 cameras
look the same color and brightness. Judson quickly decided that new
equipment was needed to meet their expectations.
After surveying the church, we designed a system that would really
bring up the production value. They loved the design with the core
equipment consisting of 4-Sony BRC-300 remote pan and tilt cameras,
dual controllers, and an Analog Way switcher.
Although this was twice their original budget, they took the proposed
system to the church body. Pastor Johnny Baylor was very enthusiastic
about making the weekly service look like a real TV broadcast. The
church body‘s response was so positive, they added two projectors
and screens so they could IMAG the service too.
30 days after their deposit, A-VIDD’S installation team took
over the church sanctuary for a very busy 3 days. End of day one we
had the cameras mounted, projectors and screens hung, equipment racks
built, and cables pulled. Day 2 existing equipment was integrated
into the new equipment rack, and initial testing was started. By noon
on day 3 the entire system was burned in and a 2 hour training session
with staff members was completed.
Pastor Johnny gave our team a very nice complement noting our efficiency,
cleanliness, and professionalism. They are regularly broadcasting
services on LA cable stations.
